FC Platinum explodes

FC Platinum house is in turmoil after a clash between coach Norman Mapeza and some executive members before the Triangle match on Saturday.

Reliable sources within the team say the fallout came after the executive accused Mapeza of inciting players to strike for outstanding monies, an allegation which Mapeza vehemently denied.

“What happened is that the players refused to train on Friday wanting to be paid their dues. The club president George Mawere and chairman Evans Mthombeni arrived at the stadium to address the players. The two accused Mapeza of inciting the players to strike,” said the source.

“An angry Mapeza shot back saying the executive was framing him. He also countered by accusing the executive of interfering in his technical duties particularly Mthombeni who is a known anti-Mapeza within the executive. Mawere who used to be Mapeza’s main man in the executive is now believed to be angling for Harare City coach Mark Harrison.”

Despite the fracas on Friday, FC Platinum went on to beat Triangle 2-1 in a match that some media reports allege they benefited from biased officiating from referee Nkosana Nduna.
